The Indiana Invitational Championship is a six-player event to which Indiana residents can qualify via the following paths:

[2] Current Indiana Open State Champion
[3] Second Indiana finisher in last Open State Championship
[4] Top Indiana gradeschool player in last Open State Championship
[5] Top Indiana resident finisher in the previous year's Hoosier Chess Tour
[6] Highest-rated active Indiana chess player (classical time control activity in Indiana in past year)
