At the recent Indiana Class Championships, a Best Annotated Game prize for one Chessable course was offered. We are pleased to announce that the winner was Matt Jacyno for his annotation of his Round 4 loss against John Bentrup using the Exchange Slav. Matt’s annonation is wonderful, using objective data from both the Lichess database and engine but more importantly, sharing his subjective thoughts throughout the game. It really shows the “blood, sweat, and tears” of a great annotation! As his prize, Matt chose Mastering Positional Sacrifices by New in Chess and IM Merijn Van Delft. Congratulations, Matt! Enjoy reviewing his excellent annotations on our Featured Game.
Two more annotations have also been posted. Brendan Donley received Second Place for his nice annotations in a victory for Black with the Pirc Defense. And Charles Lemeron tells an interesting story of combating outside difficulties when playing OTB chess in our Honorable Mention.
Finally, we are lucky to have received an excellent positional study from our (both) Indiana State Champion and winner of the Master/Expert section in the Indiana Class, Nate Criss. He discussed a critical position at the end of his game against rising star, Harvey Hanke. We strongly recommend taking a look at this!
As these expert annotators clearly show, self-analysis of one’s OTB games is one of the best ways to improve! And reading other’s annotations is both educational and fun. Enjoy the reviews!
